Should You Do A First Look On Your Wedding Day?
One of my favorite moments at the beginning of the wedding day is the first look! Hands down!
A first look is when the bride and groom see each other for the very first time on their wedding day before the ceremony!
It’s a very special moment for the couple and every time I have the chance to witness one, my heart melts! No words can truly describe the tender emotions and your reactions when you see each other for the first time on your wedding day! It’s simply precious and something that I highly encourage each of my KIP couples to do!
There are a few BIG benefits of doing a first look!
#1: It Calms the Nerves
The biggest benefit of doing one is that it calms your nerves and takes the pressure off before the ceremony! Your wedding day is a big day for both of you and it’s perfectly normal to be full of nerves the morning of!
The morning of my own wedding I was a basket case! I was stressing about whether or not it was going to rain, doing last minute details, making sure everything was getting done in the order that it was supposed to be, and trying to make sure that things would run smoothly. All the normal things that a bride worries about on the morning of her wedding day!
When David and I first seen each other before the ceremony, those nerves melted away in an instant! All that mattered in that moment was being with him and savoring the moment together! The rest of it I knew would fall into place because all I needed on our wedding day was to marry the love of my life!
Below is a photo from our very own first look on OUR wedding day! It’s a moment on our wedding day that I will forever cherish!
#2 This will be one of the only chances you get to be alone together on your wedding day!
When people say that your wedding day will fly by in the blink of an eye, they’re not kidding! It really does. I’ve experienced that first hand!
Between getting ready, the ceremony, spending time with each of your guests, taking photos, and the reception, it doesn’t leave much time to be alone together to just savor the moments!
David and I’s first look was the ONLY moment that we had together alone on our wedding day! So I am forever thankful that we made the decision to do one!
Having this moment together to just savor it and to be present with each other is reason enough to do it!
Plus the absolutely heart melting emotional photos that you’ll get from doing it is so special to be able to remember it by!
#3 You’ll be able to get most of your planned photos done before the ceremony so you have more time to relax and enjoy it after!
I’m sure you know the feeling of taking photos for hours on end and you’re trying to force a smile so you have some nice photos! But in reality you’re just not feeling it anymore because you’ve been doing it for so long already and you’d rather be relaxing! I’ve been there too.
Doing a first look we’ll be able to break those photo times up into smaller chunks throughout the wedding day so you can relax in between them and so you can enjoy more of your wedding day together without feeling rushed!
Plus we’ll have some wiggle room throughout the day just in case things ran a bit late!
