Amanda and Jake met at Dakota State University in Madison, SD as freshman in college and were inseparable ever since. They first seen each other in speech class and started to get to know each other but weren’t ‘formally’ introduced until the Halloween dance! As soon as Jacob met Amanda he didn’t want to leave her side! These two are absolutely PERFECT for each other! It was SO much fun photographing their engagement session! I had driven all the way from Marshall MN to photograph them, but it was very well worth it to be able to get to know this super fun couple!
While Amanda and I were planning the session I had asked her how Jake had proposed to her and it is SO special, unique and sweet! This is what she told me:
Jacob was playing for the Wyoming Calvery IFL football team and had a game against the Sioux Falls Storm March 17, 2013. The game had gotten over and all our family and friends went down on the field to say hi to Jacob. They let everyone that came say hi and take photos with him. I was the last to take a photo with him. We were about to pose for a photo when he pulled me in for a kiss and got down on one knee and said will you marry me? I was shocked and speechless. But I of course said yes!
Here is a little bit about them! 😀
Jake and Amanda like to go shopping, hang out with family and friends, hunting and football. On the weekends (or anytime!!!) they enjoying each others company, going out for dinner, and cooking together. Jake’s favorite music is 80’s Rock, rock, hard rock, country and Amanda’s favorite music is anything but hard alternative rock. Both of their favorite snacks and beverages are Mountain Dew, Raspberry Tea Kettle jalapeño cheddar chips with cottage cheese (Amanda said don’t diss it until you try it! So I guess we’ll have to try it! :D), Reese’s cups, and Snickers. The last question I asked them is ‘If they could go anywhere, where would they go?’ Jake replied with ‘Anywhere elk hunting.’ and Amanda said ‘Cancun or Belgium’!!! At the end of their session I found out that Amanda is originally from Westbrook MN, which is only about 45 minutes from Marshall!
Amanda had taken photography as her minor in college so she very carefully planned out every detail of their session, as you will soon see below!!! She made these super adorable ‘Save the Date’ football jerseys and painted their wedding date on Jake’s football for the first portion of their session at the Trojan Field football stadium! For their second portion of the engagement photography session we photographed them in the Speech classroom where they first met at Dakota State University! We took advantage of the classroom desks, chalkboard, and super cool old school tile floor! Finally for the last portion of the engagement session we headed to a super awesome rustic country location, the Lake Madison Recreational Area. It was absolutely GORGEOUS here! Amanda wore a sweet white lace dress with a watermelon pink cardigan over the top, paired with some super awesome cowgirl boots! Jake wore a cool denim button up shirt, kaki pants, and some brown leather dress shoes! As luck may have it, Amanda’s sister had a perfectly coordinating quilt in the car for us to use during the session too!
I don’t think I’ve EVER laughed so much or so hard as I did during Jake and Amanda’s engagement photography session!!! Jake is a natural comedian and he had the ability to do this awesome eyebrow move which made me bust out laughing immediately! Throughout the entire session Jake and Amanda acted like themselves and I was SO so happy that I was able to capture their true personalities and love for each other! It really shows in all of the photographs how perfect they truly are for each other!
