Our 7 Year Colorado Anniversary Session | Copper Mountain, CO
Last year my family and I (David wasn’t able to make it) met up in Vail, Colorado for a week long vacation together and I feel HEAD OVER HEELS in love with the area! The Rocky Mountains are STUNNING and one week there wasn’t NEARLY enough for me.
While we were there we decided to try fishing at the Clinton Gulch Dam Reservoir! I LOVE to go fishing, but after not catching any fish I decided to do some exploring to see the rest of the Reservoir looked like!
The view that I came across left me breathless and at a loss for words! It was one of the most incredible views I had EVER seen in my entire life.
The valley that was at the back of the Reservoir was at the base of the Rocky Mountains with the tall pine trees framing the beautiful valley! It was simply INCREDIBLE!
Ever since that day I KNEW I had to come back to it again and that I wanted to share it with David too!
Sharing Someplace Special with the Person I Love the Most!
Since David was unable to make it on the family vacation there with us I wanted to share this very special place with him so he could see just how beautiful it was and how much this place meant to me!
Also since we would be there on our 7 year anniversary as we road tripped back up to Minnesota for two weeks and that I knew he would be deploying soon, I knew this was the PERFECT place to have our yearly Anniversary Photos taken at!!!
I wanted to have photos taken at one of the places that meant so much to me with the one person that means the world to me! So I made it happen and started planning!
Making It Happen + The Planning!
Being a destination wedding and engagement photographer myself I LOVE meeting other photographers, making new photographer friends, and doing session swaps together so we both have beautiful photos of with our loves! So I reached out to a few photographers that were in the Frisco, CO and the Denver, CO areas to see who would be up for the hike and the photo swap.
Emily, from Keeping Composure Photography, said she was TOTALLY down for it so we scheduled a time that worked that day so her boyfriend, Ben, could come along with us!
With both of us being photographers the planning was very simple! We each chose our own outfits, made sure we knew where to meet, made plans to both bring our pups along with, and set the time to meet!
Early Mornings + Beautiful Views – The Morning of the Colorado Anniversary Session!
The day before our Colorado anniversary session, we ran into some car problems and some traffic. But that didn’t stop us from reaching our destination! We made it to the hotel at 4:30 AM, got maybe 10 minutes of sleep, and got back up to meet Ben and Emily out at the Clinton Gulch Dam Reservoir at 6:30 AM to start our hike to the back of the valley!
After about a 45 minute hike and trodding through SEVERAL water spots from the melting snow, we finally made it to the back of the Reservoir! It’s still just as stunning as the first day I discovered it and I’m SO HAPPY that I was able to share this special place with David!!!
Emily and I took turns photographing each other and I am HEAD OVER HEELS in love with the photos that we both captured of each other!!!! They’re STUNNING!
You can view Ben and Emily’s full session here!
I honestly don’t know HOW we ran on no sleep, but we did it, and I am in complete awe of the beautiful photos that Emily, from Keeping Composure Photography, captured for us!!! She was such a sweetheart to work with and I’m so thankful to have made a new photographer friend!!
