Palm Springs and Joshua Tree National Park Adventures
Last week 3 photographer friends and I went on an all day adventure together! We visited Palm Springs, CA and Joshua Tree National Park!
It was such a fun road trip filled with SO much laughter, joking around, and exploring places that we’ve all been wanting to explore! I’m so thankful to have these 3 amazing friends in my life!!! Friends and exploring make my heart SO happy and filled!
The Start of Our Adventures!
We left at 8 AM to hit the road and to make it to Palm Springs by lunch time, which was our first stop!
We ate at the Reservoir, which was a SUPER cool modern, rustic, industrial type restaurant!!!! They had a super cool wood plank wall in a chevron pattern which we all loved since we’re photographers!
All four of us enjoyed an early drink together and I enjoyed their breakfast taco’s, since I’m taco obsessed! They were super yummy!
Random Exploring and The Door Tour of Palm Springs!
After lunch we decided to randomly drive around Palm Springs to see what we could find! It’s fun just driving around to see all of the beautiful homes there!!! The architecture and designs of the homes are so beautiful!
The first stop we made was at a spot that had a gorgeous desert, palm trees, and mountain views!
As soon as we got there my sweet husband called me and I was able to talk to him for a while!!! Which made me so happy and my heart leaped as soon as I heard his voice. I’m so thankful for every chance I get to talk to him while he’s gone on deployment!
The next stop was to drive around on The Door Tour of Palm Springs to see all of the fun colored front doors that people have on their houses!!!!
My favorite colored door is of course the infamous pink door in Palm Springs! Pink is totally my favorite color in the whole wide world!
We found this super handy Door Tour Map from Salty Canary to help guide us around the area to see all the fun doors!
If you look carefully you might see a frolicking photographer, a photographer totem pole, and a hiding photographer!
Joshua Tree National Park and Qual Springs!
Once we finished with the Door Tour we hit the road again to head out to Joshua Tree National Park! It’s only an hour from Palm Springs and we got to the park at around 3:30 PM!
Our first stop inside of Joshua Tree was at the Qual Springs! I just loved the views here when we climbed up to the top of the boulders!!!
The Middle of the Road Shenanigans!
When you’re visiting Joshua Tree National Park you have to stop to do photos in the middle of the road! While watching for traffic and not getting hit of course!
We found the perfect stretch of straight road between the Qual Springs and the White Tank Arch to stop to do these photos!
We ended up doing a lot of waiting for cars to pass but the photos were well worth it!
The view is STUNNING! Plus we had some fun with it too by doing fun jumping photos of course! These photos are definitely some of my favorites!
The White Tank Arch
Another one of my favorite spots in Joshua Tree National Park was the White Tank Arch! It’s a really cool natural stone arch in the park! But that wasn’t the best part of this spot!
The best part was actually past the arch after you climbed over the boulders and into the little boulder valley beyond it! It is a photographers DREAM with the beautiful landscape, the boulders framing the path, and the symmetry of them all together!
The Cholla Cactus Garden
We originally had intentions of being to the Cholla Cactus Garden by the time golden hour came around but we were so in love with the spot we found at the White Tank Arch that we missed the beautiful golden light!
This beautiful little Cholla Cactus Garden spot is so beautiful and breathtaking!
But be forewarned! Do NOT touch the cactuses or brush up against them with anything! They “look” soft but they definitely are NOT soft and gentle. You’ll also want to watch where you walk too so you don’t step on or accidentally kick one of the Cholla Cactus balls that fell onto the ground. They’re very prickly, stick to you easily, and are hard to get off of your clothing.
Even though we missed the golden hour for the Cholla Cactus Garden we were able to photograph the beautiful purple and blue hues in the sky that happened after sunset! It was so beautiful!!!
After the Cholla Cactus Garden we hit the road for home!
