The First 5 Steps to Start Planning Your Wedding
Now that you’re engaged I’m sure you’re wondering where to start planning your wedding! Am I right?!
Back when I first got engaged I was wondering the same thing so today I wanted to share with you the First 5 Steps to Start Planning Your Wedding!!!
Keep reading below.
Step 1: Announce your engagement!!!
One of the very first 5 steps to start planning your wedding would be to announce your engagement to your family and friends!!!
Whether this be by calling them each individually, sharing the amazing news with them in person, or sharing your proposal story on social media with a photo of your gorgeous new bling!
After you’re done reading the rest of this blog post then head on over to see the other 5 Super Fun Ways to Announce Your Engagement!
Step 2: Choose your wedding date!
When it comes to choosing your wedding date there’s a couple of questions you need to think about:
- Where do you want to have your wedding? What city, state, or country?
- What season do you want to have your wedding in? Spring, summer, fall, or winter?
Answering these two questions will help you narrow down your wedding date.
If you want an outdoors wedding at a beautiful national park up North you might not want to have your wedding during the winter months or it could be too cold, unless you want to get married with beautiful snow all around you.
If you want to have a wedding when it’s not too hot you might want to consider having a spring or fall wedding instead.
Step 3: Hire a wedding planner!
One of the questions I see most commonly asked is whether or not you should hire a wedding planner for your wedding.
My simple answer to this would be, yes, absolutely!
Since you’ve never planned a wedding before you’re in unfamiliar territory and you more than likely don’t know everything that needs to be done.
This is where your wedding planner comes in.
They will know which wedding vendors will be best for you to use to complete the vision you have for your wedding day! They’ll also help keep you on track while you plan your wedding so you don’t fall behind.
Trust me when I say this…your wedding planner is worth their weight in gold!
Plus the amount of stress and time you’ll be saving to still live your life is WELL worth it!
Step 4: Create your guest list!
Without your guest list you won’t know where to start looking for your wedding venue.
Here are a couple of questions to ask yourself to help you figure it out:
- Do you want a small intimate wedding or do you want your wedding to be big and glamorous?
- Do you want a local wedding or do you want to do a destination wedding?
Answering these two questions will help you narrow down your guest list.
Another thing to remember when creating your guest list…
Your wedding day is about you two and what you want. So don’t worry about what your family or friends want for your wedding day. Instead focus on making it so it’s special for you two and making it your own! This is YOUR wedding day, not anyone else’s.
Step 5: Book your wedding photographer!!!
Booking your wedding photographer is one of the MOST important steps when your planning your wedding.
After your wedding day is over your wedding photos are literally the only thing that you’ll have left to remember it all by. So it’s extremely important for you to hire an experienced high quality wedding photographer for your wedding day.
Some tips to help you find the perfect wedding photographer:
- Do some research to figure out what style of photos you love the most.
- Reach out to your top 10 favorite wedding photographers that have that style to see if they’re available for your wedding date.
- Set up a consultation with the wedding photographers that are available for your date and meet with them.
- Ask to see full wedding galleries, their sample wedding albums, find out the process of working together, and see if your personalities click.
Do they have high quality work that you love and have experience photographing weddings? Are your personalities a good match? Will they help you design your wedding album and wall portraits for your home after the wedding day?
If the answer is yes to these three questions then hire them!
