Yosemite National Park | My Birthday Trip Part 1
Last month over Memorial Day weekend, my husband and I were able to take a four day trip up to Central California to go see Yosemite National Park, Sequoia National Park, and Kings Canyon National Park!
The views at these three National Parks were so beautiful that I have to split our trip up into two blog posts just to be able to feature ALL of my favorites!!! So stay tuned later this month for Part 2 of this super fun trip!!!
Yosemite National Park
The drive to Fresno wasn’t too bad. It only took us 5 hours to get there from our home in Oceanside, CA! Once we passed from Southern California to Central California it was a HUGE difference in the landscape!
Both of us originally being from Minnesota we felt like we were back home with all of the fields filled with produce, the tractors (you have no idea how excited I got to see a four wheel drive John Deere tractor again!), and the small towns that were spread out all over!
We stayed at a super super super cute AirBNB in Fresno, CA that you should TOTALLY check out HERE if you’re planning to visit these gorgeous National Parks! The family was so sweet to stay with and we felt really spoiled while we stayed there!!!
The next day we visited Yosemite and what we were able to see of it, it was STUNNING!!! The mountains, cliffs, meadows, forests, and the waterfalls that are spread throughout the park had me in complete AWE of it all!!!
Continue scrolling down to read more details about our trip and to see the GORGEOUS photos!
After reading the exciting news in the next paragraph of course!
Travel Plans to Return in September 2017!!!
This coming September I’m making plans to travel back to Yosemite National Park to spend more time here to explore! But ALSO to photograph some adorable Romantic Adventurer couples here too!
So if you’re traveling to Yosemite this September too or you live nearby and you’ve been ABSOLUTELY DYING to have gorgeous photos taken here with your honey like I have been, then girl LET’S CONNECT!!!
The ALMOST Tunnel View
While I was planning our trip I took notes of all of the spots that I wanted to stop and see in our short time here. The Tunnel View was one of them. However, we opted to stop one spot just before the Tunnel View due to the amount of people that were crowded there and the very limited parking!
The views from this viewpoint of the Tunnel View in Yosemite were just as stunning! I sat here for a couple of minutes just soaking it all in and enjoying the beautiful view!
Bridalveil Falls, El Capitan, and Yosemite Valley
As we drove through the park I was literally hanging out the window and standing out of my sunroof to photograph all of the gorgeous views! Yes…you read that right! I was standing out of my sunroof to get photos! What can I say, I’m a photographer down to the core and I’ll do whatever it takes to get the photos I want! Haha!
We passed by the famous Bridalveil Falls, got to see El Capitan for the very first time up close, and crossed over the beautiful river that flows through Yosemite!!!
They say that the waterfalls are best to be seen in the spring right after the snow has melted from the mountain tops and I’m so very thankful to have been able to see them in all their beauty!
For my trip in September, I fully plan on getting closer to them so I can feel the spray from them raining down on my face (not my camera though!) and hiking to the top of one of them!!
Half Dome, the Meadow, and that darn traffic.
After we had visited Tunnel View we weren’t able to stop at all throughout the park to do any hiking until later in the day at sunset. We ended up being stuck in SIX HOURS of traffic in the park. Stop and go. Hence why I got creative and stood out of my sunroof to get photos!
As we drove through the traffic jam I got my first glimpse of the Half Dome from within Yosemite Valley and we also got to see the REVERSE view of the Tunnel View which was BEAUTIFUL!
I’ve always always always loved beautiful meadows with mountains surrounding them! They just make my heart melt with how beautiful they are and when I visualize all of the beautiful couples I’ll be photographing in them in the future! If this is YOU too and you’d love love LOVE to have photos here in the meadow, girlie we GOTTA CONNECT!
Glacier Point at Sunset
Our last stop for the day was to see Glacier Point at sunset and OH MY GOSH WAS IT GORGEOUS! I’m pretty sure I had to pick my jaw up off the ground a couple of times I was so in awe of it!
The golden light washing over the mountains and the valley just have me wanting to do a happy dance every time I see the photos from our trip and think about my upcoming trip back here again in September!!!
If you’re planning to watch the sunrise or sunset somewhere in Yosemite when you visit, I HIGHLY recommend doing one of them here at Glacier Point!
I fully plan on photographing one of my beautiful couples here this coming September! So if you’re as in love with this view as I am and would absolutely LOVE to have photos here, LET’S TOTALLY CONNECT!
Of course being a photographer, we can’t JUST take selfies on our phones! We gotta use our camera’s!!! I absolutely ADORE these fun and silly photos of my husband and I!!! It’s not very often that he’ll take selfies with me and ACTUALLY LIKE IT, so I’ll take them when I can get them! Dorkiness and all!
My Personal Photographer (aka husband)!
Whenever my husband and I take a trip, I ALWAYS rope him into being my personal photographer to get a couple of gorgeous shots of me while we’re there! No he’s not the most ideal or perfect photographer, but he’s gotten some pretty awesome photos for me….wiiiiiiith a lot of instruction on how to do it and some redo’s!
I’m very thankful though for the gorgeous photos he has captured for me! I really don’t know what I’d do without him!!!
The Bravery of a Fellow Photographer
THIS guy is very very VERY brave! He’s a fellow photographer whose DETERMINED to get the shot, like myself, no matter what! But still I’m pretty sure I’d end up crawling over that rock on my belly just to get out there! I’m TERRIFIED of heights like this!!! But to get a beautiful photo from it, you better believe it I’d get my scared butt out there too!
Side Note: TECHNICALLY you’re not supposed to go out there onto the rock and the park ranger DEFINITELY made sure he knew that once he got back to the safe side!
Remember to stay tuned for later this month for PART 2 of my Birthday Trip when we visited Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park!!!
