3 National Parks in 4 days | Utah Road Trip
Earlier this month, Tiffany from Baldwin Bridal and I set out on our four day Utah road trip!
Back when I met Tiffany a year and a half ago, we both had said that we wanted to travel as often as we could and photograph gorgeous couples at the places we traveled to! We wanted to go on adventures and to be inspired by the beautiful world around us!
So we started to make plans for places that we wanted to travel to that were within driving distance of Southern California first and started searching for couples who would be traveling to those areas that wanted a beautiful session done there to document their time there!
When we seen Justin and Glorianna’s post on the Rising Tide Society Facebook group about them searching for a photographer to do a session with them while they were on their week long one year anniversary trip, Tiffany and I jumped at the chance!
Our original plans were to photograph Justin and Glorianna at Horseshoe Bend in Page, Arizona and to also explore Antelope Canyon! But plans had to be changed so we opted to plan a Utah Road Trip instead and meet up with them at Bryce Canyon National Park, do some exploring together there, and photograph their gorgeous Bryce Canyon Anniversary Session there!
You can see their gorgeous session HERE!
While we were planning out our Utah road trip we looked at all of the beautiful national parks that were there and narrowed it down to just two national parks that we wanted to visit for this Utah road trip! Bryce Canyon National Park and Zion National Park were the two that we chose!
We wanted to make the most of our trip so we opted to do one national park per day vs. trying to cram more in and not really getting to explore all of them.
Bryce Canyon National Park
On our way to Bryce Canyon we made a pitstop to see the Parowan Gap Petroglyphs and the dinosaur tracks in Parowan, Utah! I’ve always loved seeing beautiful pieces of history like these since they were done so far back in time!
When we met up with Justin and Glorianna at Bryce Canyon later that afternoon we first made a stop to see the Natural Bridge that was there and then made our way back to Sunset Point to hike down the Navajo Trail to explore and do the anniversary session!
Walking down the trail with the hoodoos towering high above us in their beautiful shades of red to white was STUNNING! My legs however weren’t so happy with me due to the intensity of the hike! But none the less, it was INCREDIBLE!
At the bottom of the Navajo Trail, Tiffany found a BEAUTIFUL forest area just off the trail that was absolutely perfect for us to do the anniversary session! The towering trees, the golden light, and the red cliffs in the background were amazing!
After we hiked back up the Navajo trail (and after I caught my breath!), Justin and Glorianna read their beautiful Love Letters to each other overlooking the rim of Bryce Canyon right at sunset! Tiffany, from Baldwin Bridal, provided the styling for the entire anniversary session and Sara, from Krysteliart, created the custom Love Letters!
Zion National Park
Zion National Park was by far MY favorite from our Utah road trip and I know I will DEFINITELY be going back there for a longer stay to explore more of the park!
We got to Zion later in the afternoon and first drove through the park to take in all of the views before we headed back to the hiking trail we wanted to do! We drove through the mile long tunnel and stopped on the other side of the second little tunnel! Here we got to see the mountain goats and their two little babies making their way down one of the cliff sides!
Next, after driving back down the road, we hopped onto the shuttle bus and headed up to the Emerald Pools trail area! As we hiked the trail we stopped at the Lower Emerald Pools, the Middle Emerald Pools, and finally reached the Upper Emerald Pools! The views along the way up and out overlooking the canyon were INCREDIBLE! Nothing like I had ever seen before and it made me fall even more in love with Zion!
Once we reached the Upper Emerald Pools, I photographed Tiffany and her boyfriend Daniel! Tiffany wore an emerald green dress (kind of fitting for the Emerald Pool I’d say!) and photographing them with the beautiful scenery around them was STUNNING!
At the end of our Emerald Pools Trail hike while we were waiting for the shuttle we got to get up close to some of the local white tailed deer! Growing up in Minnesota, I’ve always known the deer to run at the sight of people, but these deer didn’t mind that we were there at all! Which was SO AWESOME to be able to get that close to them!!!
After we left Zion National Park we stopped at this cute little restaurant and I enjoyed their amazing Buffalo Burger and one of their signature craft beers!! So yummy!
On our way home and Joshua Tree National Park
On our way home from our Utah road trip, we made a short pit stop in Las Vegas to take a break and see some of the scenery in the gorgeous hotels on the Las Vegas Strip! Then we made our way to Joshua Tree National Park to photograph my gorgeous military homecoming couple to photograph their Anniversary Session!
We made it to Joshua Tree just in time for the beautiful golden hour and to watch the gorgeous sunset as I photographed John and Jessica’s Joshua Tree Anniversary Session! The gorgeous golden light over the valley filled with Joshua Trees and the giant boulders was a STUNNING backdrop for their beautiful session!
Though we didn’t have much time to really explore all of the Bryce Canyon, Zion, or Joshua Tree, I do know that I will be making another Utah road trip out to explore them more at a later date and hopefully with my handsome husband too!
Traveling is one of the things that I love to do the most and it gives me SO MUCH inspiration!!! I can’t wait to travel more, to see other beautiful destinations, and to photograph more gorgeous couples as I travel!!!
